Canadian Interuniversity Sport



         


Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) is the national governing body of university sport in Canada. The CIS is comprised of the majority of degree granting universities in the country. The USA equivalent to the CIS is the NCAA.

The Canadian Interuniversity Athletics Union (CIAU) was founded in 1906. In June 2001, members of the CIAU voted to change the organization's name to CIS.

Men's sports: basketball, cross country, Canadian football, ice hockey, soccer, swimming, track & field, volleyball and wrestling.

Women's sports: basketball, cross country, field hockey, ice hockey, rugby union, soccer, swimming, track & field, volleyball and wrestling.
