Britney is the third album by the American pop artist Britney Spears. It was released on November 6, 2001 and debuted at number 1 in the Billboard charts. The album has sold over 4 million copies in the United States and over 12 million copies worldwide; nevertheless, it was less successful than Spears' first two albums, Baby One More Time and Oops!...I Did It Again. Britney is notable for Spears' own increasingly prominent role in the songwriting as well as a greater focus on her own sexuality. Spears worked with producers such as The Neptunes, Rodney Jerkins, Max Martin and others.
"I'm a Slave 4 U", "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman", "Overprotected", and "Boys" were released as singles in the US. "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" and "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" were featured in Spears' 2002 movie Crossroads.
