British Construction Industry Awards
The British Construction Industry Awards were launched by the New Civil Engineer magazine and Thomas Telford Ltd - both owned by the Institution of Civil Engineers - in 1998.
The awards seek to recognise outstanding achievement in the construction of buildings, taking account of a wide range of factors including architectural and engineering design, but also consideration of the construction process, delivery to time and budget, and client satisfaction.
The award winners in 2003 were:
- Bournemouth Library - The Prime Minister's better Public Building Award
- Cowgate Under 5s Centre, Edinburgh - Small Project Award
- Imperial War Museum North, Manchester - Building Award
- Tay Bridge Refurbishment, Dundee - Civil Engineering Award
- Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Cambridge - Major Project Award
- Newburn riverside reclaimation & infrastructure, Newcastle Upon Tyne - Best Practice Award
- The Bridge of Aspiration, Royal Ballet School, London - Special Award for innovation in concept, design and execution
- Bangladesh-UK Friendship Bridge - International Award
