One of the most important 'neighbourhoods' of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, Bow is the home of Victoria Park the so-called 'lungs of the East End' laid out on the orders of Queen Victoria to offer the people of the East End some respite form the harsh reality of city life.

Various historical events have also touched the area from the Match Girl's strike (DYSWID?) at the Bryant and May match factory in the 1880's which was part of the overall suffragette movement, to the first 'buzz bomb' (German V1 rocket) landing on London in Grove Road...
