The Big Twelve Conference is a College Athletic Conference located in the central United States. It is a member of the NCAA's Division I for all sports, and Division I-A for football.
The conference was formed on February 25, 1994, when the former Big Eight Conference merged with four Texas schools that had been members of the Southwest Conference, which had just disbanded.
Member schools include:
North Division
South Division
Member schools participate in baseball, men's and women's basketball, cross country, football, golf, gymnastics, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track, volleyball and wrestling.
The Big Twelve has many rivalries among its member schools, especially in football. A couple of its major rivalries go back to its predecessor, the Big Eight Conference, and another was imported from the Southwest Conference.
