Betws-y-Coed

Betws-y-Coed is a town in Conwy, Wales, lying in the Snowdonia region and on the River Conwy and River Llugwy.

The town was founded around a monastery in the late sixth century, and grew very slowly around the lead mining industry. In 1815, the Waterloo Bridge was constructed by Thomas Telford, bringing the future A5 road through the town and spurring further development.

Attractions in the town include two museums, the Miners' Bridge, a fourteenth century church, the Fairy Glen and waterfalls including the Pont-y-Pair Falls and Conwy Falls. The town is also a centre for outdoor pursuits and lies near the Gwydyr Forst.
