Beşiktaş is a district of Istanbul, Turkey located on the European side of the city, by the coast of The Bosphorus.
Being one of the most crowded districts of Istanbul, Besiktas has a population of 1,900,813 (2000 census).
Also the district hosts the football team, Beşiktaş Jimnastik Kulübü (Besiktas Gymnastics Club), who have won 10 Turkish Super League titles and participated three times in the Champions League.
