Bernard Marx
Bernard Marx is a notable side character in the novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. Benard's character is viewed as an outsider by his peers. He is abnormally short for his caste (Alpha-minus), does not enjoy the drug soma or the "feelies", and is not promiscuous. In addition, Benard harbors a kind of disatisfaction with some aspects of the society and tends to be antisocial and aloof towards his more hedonistic peers. Despite his somewhat negative qualities, Bernard is profoundly intelligent and a bit philosophical. In conclusion, he is an intelligent, moral man forced to live in a world of idiotic heathens.
