Basswood



         


Basswood is a common name given to Tilia americana, the American Linden, a kind of tree with soft, easily worked wood. The name comes from bast, an Old English word for the fibrous inner bark of the tree.

The wood is somewhat similar to balsa wood and is often used for model building.
