Bash Street School
Bash Street School, a fictional school featured in the long-running UK comic strip The Bash Street Kids in The Beano, has ninety two students, as well as several members of staff, including:
- Chocolius Biccius (The head who got his name from his love of chocolate biscuits.)
- Benny Bash (The teacher of class 4B. Benny is usually called "Teacher".)
- Fittock Con (The unfit janitor.)
- Winston (The janitors cat, a crafty feline.)
- Olive Horrorgrub (The school cook of horrible food.)
- Samuel Persely (The teacher of class 5P.)
- Thomas Intall (The teacher of class 3I.)
- Techno (The laboratory technician, also a robot, made his first appearance in issue 2751 dated 10 April 1995.)
- Gilbert Splunge (The Bash Street School Bus conductor. The stress of this job has caused him to age quickly, and has a long white beard despite only being 21.)
The teacher of Class 2B (the class the Bash Street Kids are in) is called, surprisingly, Teacher (sometimes 'Sir') and is married to Mrs Teacher (maiden name unknown).
The school badge is, for some reason, a red-and-black spotted toadstool. According to some reports the school dates back to Roman times, when a Roman scholar who looked very much like Teacher attempted to civilise the younger Britons.
The school has two longstanding rivals: Blob Street School and Posh Street School. They are frequently involved in inter-school competition with either of these.
