Barranquitas, Puerto Rico is a small mountain town located in the central part of Puerto Rico, about one hour by road from Bayamón.
Barranquitas has been the birthplace of two Puerto Rican Governors, Luis Muñoz Rivera and his son, Luis Muñoz Marín. This has made Barranquitas a popular tourist attraction among Puerto Ricans of other cities, and the city has many small hotels. The birthplaces of both Rivera and his son Marín have been turned into Museums. Rubén Berríos was also born there.
Early in the 20th century, Barranquitas residents, known as Barranquiteños, had a short but legendary territory war with residents of the city of Comerío.
Sports wise, Barranquitas has no professional sports teams, but there are some amateur sports teams that play there.
