A "baby boomer" is someone born during a baby boom – a period of increased birth rates relative to surrounding generations. It was also a time for great economical status to the world, because all these kids needed items such as clothes and food. This created a lot of jobs for many people around the world, and Canada's economic standard went up. The jobs were also very important, because they were used to help better the community after World War II. The country was in a very bad state, because of all the deaths, and families were so happy that they started to have a lot of children. That is what started the baby boom.

The term is most often used to refer to people born during the Post-WW2 baby boom.
