The Australian National University (ANU), is a university located in Canberra, the national capital of Australia. Established in 1946, it occupies most of the suburb of Acton. According to several international indices, it is the best university in Australia, being particularly strong in research.

It is one of Australia's "Group of Eight" leading universities.

The university owns property at Kioloa on the South Coast of New South Wales.
