Articuno is Pokémon #144 in the National Pokédex, and #299 in the Hoenn Pokédex. Articuno is part of the Legendary Birds, which also include Zapdos, and Moltres.
Name origin
"Articuno" originates from the word "arctic", because it is an ice-type, and from the Spanish word "uno", meaning "one", because it is numerically the first of the three Legendary Birds.
Information
Articuno is an ice blue bird Pokémon with a long tail. Articuno is Pokémon #144 and is both Ice type and Flying type. It is so extremely rare that some people thought it was only a myth. It is one of the three legendary bird Pokémon, with the other two being Zapdos and Moltres. Its inherent element is ice.. Articuno is said to appear to doomed people who are lost in icy mountains. In the Red/Blue/Yellow/Fire Red/Leaf Green games, Articuno is found inside the maze of caves on the Seafoam Islands. Articuno isn't in any of the other Pokémon RPGs but you can get it by trading from Red/Blue/Yellow, and you can trade it to Ruby/Sapphire by using Fire Red/Leaf Green.
In Japanese, Articuno is called Freezer (phonetic: Fu-rii-zaa).
Articuno is featured in Pokémon The Movie 2000 - The Power of One together with the other two legendary birds. It also appears in some of the TV series episodes to help out Ash Ketchum when he's lost in a snowy mountain.
Articuno appears in Super Smash Bros. Melee as one of the Pokémon in the Pokéball item. When it comes out, it will freeze anyone close to it and fly away.
