Army of Darkness (1993) is the third installment of the Evil Dead film trilogy, directed by Sam Raimi and starring Bruce Campbell. This movie takes a more humorous bent than its predecessors; as a matter of fact, to refer to this movie as comedy would not be inaccurate.
The advertising tag line was "Trapped in Time. Surrounded by Evil. Low on Gas."
Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.
Ash (Campbell), having unleashed magical forces during his fight against the invisible demons who assailed him, gets thrown back in time to the Middle Ages and finds himself in the role of savior to a population of people about to be attacked by the resurrected dead. Much hijinks follow.
The movie has become a cult classic, and quotes from it have even found their way into the videogame Duke Nukem 3D.
The movie had a considerably higher budget than the prior two Evil Dead films.
The mystical phrase Ash is supposed to speak over the Necronomicon ("Klaatu barada nikto") is taken from the classic Sci-Fi movie The Day the Earth Stood Still
