Arab dictatorships

Arab dictatorships are Arab countries which are ruled by a despot - may it be a king, a "president", a general or a religious cleric. Most of the Arab dictatorship are in a very poor economic situation, due to various degrees of international economic sanctions, local corruption and tyrannical reign which suffocates personal enterprise. The human rights conditions in Arab dictatorships are often poor. Massacres and arbitrary executions are still common there.

Some of the Arab dictatorship support terrorism by supplying money, people and weapons to terrorist organizations. Syria, for example, is accused by the United States in sponsering Hezbollah and the Islamic Jihad. Some of the Arab dicatorships are pro-western and pro-American, although most of them encourage anti-Americanism as a way to divert people's rage away from them.

Note: many include countries such as Iraq in this list, although its ethnicity is not Arab. The reason is that politicaly and culturally they are closely relaated to Arab countries.
