Analytical psychology

Analytical psychology is a school of Depth Psychology based upon the movement started by Carl Jung and his followers as distinct from the (at the time) Freudian-dominated psychoanalysis. It is based on the concept that we are not aware of our personal unconscious and its concomitant forces and processes. Moreover, Jung also identified a Collective Unconscious.

Analytical Psychology distinguishes several psychological types or temperaments.

Attitude Types

• Extravert
• Introvert

Ego function types

• Thinking
• Feeling
• Sensation
• Intuition

These Psychological Types are the foundation of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), which adds two more types:

• Judging
• Perceiving
