An animated show made in America (not Japan) that shows some of the same style as anime and shows anime influence.
Amerime (phonetically ah-meh-rih-may) is a North American (specifically, United States) type of cartoon which imitates the style of Japanese animated cartoons called anime.
The Amerime movement itself is somewhat ironic in that early Japanese anime artists were influenced heavily by contemporary western animation such as Mickey Mouse Tezuka Osamu, known by many as the grandfather of modern anime, has indicated that the large expressive eyes found in Bambi influenced Osamu's first creation, Astro Boy.
Almost all of what is now known as anime followed on his lead. As the style became more popular, it spread from Japan into other countries. In the United States it became so popular that some cartoons began to mimic the style - amerime - thus bringing it athe drawing style full circle.
