Americans for Democratic Action (usually called ADA) is a political organization advocating liberal policies. It was founded in 1947.
Eleanor Roosevelt was one of its founding members.
The Americans for Democratic Action is an organizational member of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, which advocates gun control.
The ADA is well-known for its rankings of legislators; it tracks how members of Congress vote on what it considers key issues, and gives ratings, with 0 being complete disagreement with the group, and 100 agreeing completely. These scores are often used as a quick indicator of how liberal a politician is, and are the counterpart of the rankings done by the American Conservative Union.
