Altai Krai



         


Altai Krai (Алта́йский край) is a regional subdivision of Russia in the Siberian Federal District. It borders with, clockwise from the south, Kazakhstan, Novosibirsk and Kemerovo Oblasts and the Altai Republic. The krai's administrative center is the city of Barnaul.

The region's main waterway is the Ob River. The region has an area of 169,100 km&sup2 and a population of around 2.6 million (census 2002). With over 600,000 inhabitants, Barnaul is the largest city of the territory.
