Alan Ball (screenwriter)



         


Alan Ball (born in 1957) is an Academy Award winning screenwriter best known for writing the screenplay for the film American Beauty. He is also the creator of the HBO television series Six Feet Under, which he produces and occasionally writes and directs as well. Ball is gay, and his work frequently includes gay themes and characters.

Ball is a graduate of the Florida State University School of Theatre.
