After World War II, in 1946, students from 9 universities in six countries met in Liège, Belgium, with the aim to build up a new form of cooperation.

They created the ??Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Commerciales et Economiques?? (AIESE). Its mission was to create relations between student organisations and so provide exchange opportunities.

Jaroslav Zich, a young Czech, was elected president. It was decided to put the headquarter in Prague, Czechoslovakia.

As the communists gained power in this country and in order to stay political neutral, AIESE had to leave the country that same year.
