In the Islamic religion, literally translated as "People of the House" in Arabic. The Ahlul Bayt are the progeny of the Prophet Muhammed through his daughter Fatima's marriage with his cousin Ali resulting in their children Hasan and Hussein.
Shiites believe that a Imamate goes in succession through the lineage Ahlul Bayt.
