Advanced Camera for Surveys

The Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) is a camera installed on the Hubble Space Telescope, operating from 2002 to the present day.

The ACS was installed on Hubble during servicing mission 3B in March 2002, replacing the Faint Object Camera.

The ACS has twice the field of view and a higher sensitivity than the older main camera, the Wide Field Planetary Camera 2, which is still in operation.
