Adipocyte
Adipocytes, are large and tightly packed cells in adipose tissue specialising in forming and storing fat. They are formed from fibroblasts, (connective tissue cells), which accumulate and bring together tiny drops of fat within their cytoplasm. The protoplasm and cell nucleus remain in a small area close to the cell membrane. A large drop of fat occupies the rest of the cell. This fat is in a semi-liquid state, and is composed primarily of triglycerides.
