Adamantium
Adamantium is a fictional element, the strongest metal known in the Marvel Universe. The name is derived from the word "adamant". The alloy is malleable in its molten state, but is nearly indestructable once cooled. It is used as the key component in several characters' equipment, including Wolverine's claws and skeleton, Bullseye's skeleton and some of Ultron's robotic bodies. Captain America's shield is made of an unknown alloy which was reverse-engineered to create adamantium. In the movie X2, Lady Deathstrike's talons and skeleton are also made of adamantium. Carbonadium is a malleable form of adamantium used by the villain Omega Red.
Adamantine steel was the material used to build "cloud piercing towers" in the movie Forbidden Planet. Several fantasy role-playing games have also used an adamantium-like metal named adamantine.
Αδαμας (adamas) is Greek for diamond, and in mediaeval mythology, "adamant" was a hypothetical impenetrably hard mineral.
