Acura RL

The Acura RL is the top-of-the-line sedan in the range of Honda's North American luxury brand Acura.

As of 2004, the current Acura RL has been essentially unchanged since 1996 when the RL was launched. Since all of its competitors have been revised much more recently, the RL's sales and profile have fallen in recent years. The RL's engine is now the only in the Honda and Acura lineup not to use VTEC, Honda's variable valve timing system.

A revised car is to be launched for the 2005 model year. It will feature all wheel drive with sophisticated traction control and a revised V6 engine delivering 300 horsepower (224 kW), versus 225 hp (168 kW) for the 2004 model. To give the car a more sporty feel, the car is planned to feature a five-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel in the current, racing-car derived fashion.

All Acura RLs were built in Saitama, Japan. The very first Acura RL rolled off the assembly line on January 4, 1996.
