Acceptance angle

In optical fibers the acceptance angle <math>\theta<math> is the half-angle of the cone within which incident light is totally internally reflected by the fiber core. It is equal to arcsin(NA), where NA is the numerical aperture of the fiber.

<math>\theta = \arcsin ({\rm NA})<math>
