A9.com, which went live on April 14, 2004, is Amazon.com's new search engine. According to the bottom of the page, the results are "enhanced by Google." According to the same notice, results are also "provided by Alexa, and Amazon.com." This is clearly not just a clone of Google, however, as the results produced by the engine are very different from Google's results.

In addition to web search results A9 has the ability to search the book results from Amazon.com that include "Search Inside the Book" (as long as a user registers with Amazon.com). Also, if a user signs in, that user can view his or her search history. It recently went out of beta, with a new color scheme. Its interface allows users to combine search results together, allowing side by side comparison of results.

There is a toolbar add-on for Internet Explorer, with support for other browsers under development. There is also an unofficial mycroft plugin.
