The Tommyknockers is a novel by horror novelist Stephen King.
The novel, while maintaining a horror style, is actually a rare excursion into the realm of science fiction for King, as the residents of the Maine town of Haven gradually fall under the influence of a mysterious object buried beneath Bobbi Anderson's farm. The premise may have been inspired by the British television miniseries and film Quatermass and the Pit (a.k.a. Five Million Years to Earth).
A TV movie based on the novel first appeared in 1993.
King wrote the book in 1987 during a period of acknowledged substance abuse.
