Thammasat University (Thai มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์), the second oldest university in Thailand and one of the most prestigious universities in the country, was established on June 27, 1934. Initially, its focus was primarily on law and politics, but later it expanded to offer courses in social sciences, humanities. Over the past 70 years, the University has produced a large number of graduates who have greatly contributed to the development and progress of both the society and the country.
Realizing the significant impact of science and technology on the country's economic growth, in the 1980s and 1990s Thammasat University initiated degree programs in engineering, technologies, physical sciences, and medicine at its Rangsit Center, Pathum Thani.
Located upon Chao Phraya River, Bangkok.
Tha-Prachan was the site of an infamous police crackdown on student protestors in the early 1990s, in which some students lost their lives.
