Roberto Heras



         


Roberto Heras was born on February 1 1974 in Spain. In 1997, he became a professional cyclist. He raced alongside Lance Armstrong on the US Postal Service team, functioning as a climbing specialist who greatly assisted Lance's progress in the mountain stages. However, in 2004 he left Postal to become the leader of Spanish cycling team Liberty Seguros. He was thought to be a contender for the 2004 Tour de France win, however he was forced to abandon after the 16th stage due to illness.
