Robert Lindsay (actor)

Robert Lindsay (real name Robert Lindsay Stevenson, born December 13 1949) is a British actor. He is best known for television work, starring in Citizen Smith, and more recently as Captain Pellew in the Horatio Hornblower mini-series.

Lindsay first came to prominence as the incompetent revolutionary in the sitcom Citizen Smith. He followed this with leads in a number of the BBC television Shakespeare productions, including Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing. He starred in the movie of Bert Rigby, You're a Fool and Fierce Creatures, before landing the recurring role of Captian Pellew in the ITV mini-series of Horatio Hornblower.

Lindsay was married to actress Cheryl Hall from 1974-1980. He now lives with actress Rosemarie Ford, and they have two sons.
