The Riau Islands (Kepulauan Riau (Kepri for short) or sometimes Riau Kepulauan in Bahasa Indonesia) are a group of islands in Indonesia, located south of Singapore, off the eastern coast of Riau province on Sumatra island. They were split off as a separate province in 2004.
By size and population the most important Riau islands are Bintan, Batam and Karimun.
