This article is about the Mayor of Warrington , England.
The Mayor of Warrington as the first person of the borough is charged with the overseeing of Warrington Borough Council. He/she also is a diplomat to the town who is responsible for officially welcoming people and inviting people to the town. As well as this he/she is charged with officially hosting civic events of the town. In this role, the mayor promotes the town of Warrington to attract more investment and visitors to the area.
The first mayor of Warrington was William Beaumont (of whom a high school in the town bears its name). He became mayor following the incorporation of the borough in 1847. At this time 27 councillors from the then much smaller borough were appointed to the small town hall in the centre of modern Warrington. As the town increased in size the council was moved to Bank Hall the former home of Lord Wimmerleigh for £9,700. The mayor traditionally lives in a normal residence, not Bank Hall.
