Love bombing
Love bombing is the practice of using extremely warm and caring body language, facial expression, words and voice to manipulate someone. Typical features would be a warm smile, soft voice and a hand gently resting on someone's arm.
A number of cults have been accused of love bombing especially as a means to recruit lonely housewives or students who are not used to strong expressed emotion from their family background. Similar techniques are employed by unscrupulous salesmen.
There is no litmus test which defines love bombing, there are many shades of grey and those people doing it may well be well intentioned. Perhaps it is best therefore to define it as something which people experience (they feel love bombed) rather than something which people deliberately do.
