Jose Maria Ruiz Mateos is an Spanish businessman. He started exporting wine to England and ended up with a huge imperium and a lot of influence in Spanish society. The Socialist Party, which was in office at the time and led by Felipe González, took them from him, and later sold them to friends of Felipe Gonzalez at much lower prices than the market one. He has engaged judicial actions since against this decisions demanding an indemnization.
