Jerome Bernard Orbach (born October 20, 1935 in the Bronx, New York) is an American actor.
Early in his career he played in many stage musicals including The Fantasticks, Chicago, and 42nd Street. He shifted to film and TV work, including roles in Dirty Dancing and Beauty and the Beast (voice). His best known role was as Detective Lennie Briscoe on Law & Order (1992-2004); he will continue the role on the upcoming Law & Order: Trial by Jury starting in 2005.
