Idriss Déby (born 1952) is the president of Chad and the head of the Patriotic Salvation Movement.

Déby started out as a general in the civil war in Chad. On 2 December 1990, Déby's troops marched unopposed into the capital of N'Djamena. After three months of provisional government, on 28 February 1991, a charter was approved for Chad with Déby as president. Déby was reelected in 1996 and 2001, but international observers noted irregularities in the election process.

Déby is of the Zaghawa tribe, specifically, the Bidyate clan.
