George Perry Graham

The Right Honourable George Perry Graham (1859-1943) was a journalist and politician. He was elected to the Canadian House of Commons in the 1907 general election as a Liberal and immediately became minister of railways and canals in the cabinet of SIr Wilfrid Laurier. He was defeated, along with the Laurier government, in the 1911 election but returned the next year in a by-election. He did not run in the 1917 election but ran in the 1919 Liberal leadership convention coming in third.

He returned to parliament in the 1921 election and served in the cabinet of William Lyon Mackenzie King variously as minister of the naval service, minister of militia and defence, minister of railways and canals and minister of national defence. In 1926 he was elevated to the Canadian Senate and sat in that body until his death.
