Fallschirmjäger are German paratroopers, most notably as part of the Luftwaffe during World War II. They saw service in several battles, such as the seizures of Eben Emael, Crete, and Norway.

Their use as airborne troops came to an end during World War Two after the heavy losses they suffered during the invasion of Crete. After this time, they were employed as shock troops in Normandy, for example.
