Education City, Qatar

Education City is an area in Qatar near the capital city of Doha that, with funding from a nonprofit group, has been set aside for the establishment of branch campii of several American Universities, as well as several local educational and research organizations.

Branch campuses include:

• Carnegie Mellon University - Offers business and computer science programs
• Virginia Commonwealth University - Offers arts and communications programs
• Cornell University - Offers a medical school
• Texas A&M University - Offers an engineering program

Local programs include:

• Academic Bridge Program - University-preperation school
• Qatar Academy - A school offering a British-style primary education
• Qatar Diabetes Association - Serves public health and does research on Diabetes
• Social Development Center - Aims to promote income equality
