Deprivation is defined as
Extreme poverty of food, money or rights. Bare subsistence,
indigence, ostracization, sacrifice, total loss, want.
I would rather define it as a potentially harmful lack of satisfaction in a significant need (biological, social or cultural). Can be absolute or relative (experienced only in comparison with other, more satisfied people)
