Christian terrorism is a loose categorization, differing vastly from (for example) Islamic terrorism both in organization and popular appeal within the respective religious communities. The majority of Christians and Christian leaders would outwardly call for peaceful coexistence of all human beings, and would hotly contest the acts of violence committed by such rogue elements such as abortion clinic bombings, and murder of doctors and nurses associated with such clinics.
Ironically, large numbers of Christian believers have supported political regimes, such as headed by President George W. Bush, a man who had referred to the fight against the terrorist religious organization al-Qaida in his now infamous quotation, "this crusade, this war on terrorism, is going to take a while." While there is clear debate across the issue of whether the implication of such a statement could lend support to the theory that the United States of America ("one nation under God") could in deed represent a religiously motivated counter-attack on another religious-based entity in the form of religious terrorism, few would deny the conspicuous correlation between Christians and both the founding and primary drafting of the United States of America and its most sacred documents.
