Carnivàle is an American dramatic television series produced by HBO. Created by Daniel Knauf, it stars Nick Stahl and Clancy Brown.
Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.
The period show revolves around two story lines set during the Dust Bowl year of 1934. The first takes place in a traveling freak show and exotic dance revue ("the cootch") carnival. The second story line is set in California's Central Valley and involves a clergy man and his sister. The series' complex supernatural story arc combines an unclear battle of good against evil while weaving Gnostic and Christian religion concepts with mythology and freemason lore.
