Cancer Research UK is a United Kingdom based charity, established in 2002 by the merger of The Cancer Research Campaign and the treatments for cancer.
As of 2004 the charity spends more £190 million per year on cancer research, supporting the work of 3,000 scientists, doctors and nurses. The majority of its funds come from donations made by the general public and its 650 high-street charity shops.
Cancer Research UK is supported by a number of celebrities, including Timothy West, Michael Aspel and Robert Winston.
