The Bering Sea is a body of water in the far northern Pacific Ocean, covering over two million sq km. It is bordered on the north by Alaska, the Bering Strait - which connects it to the Arctic Ocean - and northeastern Siberia, and on the south by the Alaska Peninsula and the Aleutian Islands. The sea is named for its discoverer, the Danish navigator Vitus Bering.
