Alfred Eisenstaedt



         


Alfred Eisenstaedt (December 6, 1898 - August 24, 1995) was a photographer.

He was born in Dirschau, West Prussia (now part of Poland) and emigrated to the United States in 1935, where he remained until his death.

Eisenstaedt is most renown for his candid photographs, which he made using a 2 by 1/4 inch Rolleiflex twin-lens reflex camera.

Since 1999, the have been administered by the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
