343 Guilty Spark is a fictional character from the video game Halo: Combat Evolved. A small box-like robot with artificial intelligence, he is able to hover around and access locations which a typical human would be unable to go.
343 Guilty Spark is the self-proclaimed "Monitor of 'Installation 04'", which Humans and Covenant know as Halo. He has been on the ring for 101,217 years local time maintaining the installation. Little else is known about him other than that he is a type of AI. He seems to know a great deal about The Flood, the Forerunners who built Halo, and its overall purpose. He does not seem entirely willing to explain all he knows, but this is due in part to his assumption that Master Chief is a Forerunner Reclaimer. Guilty Spark has the ability to teleport people to and from locations on Halo. His spherical body is also protected by a powerful energy shield that is totally impervious to both Human and Covenant weapons. Although Guilty Spark does not possess any offensive capabilities himself, he is able to summon and control Halo's "guard dogs"... floating, laser beam-emitting devices called Sentinels that are used to protect Halo's key installations from Flood outbreaks as well as unwanted intruders.
Guilty Spark has a chipper, clear voice, but shows possible signs of insanity and possibly Rampancy. He constantly hums to himself, and reminds himself that he is a genius.
343 Guilty Spark survived the destruction of Halo, heading for parts unknown.
343 is equal to <math>7^3<math>, with 7 being a number seen frequently in Bungie games and mythology.
The "eye" of 343 Guilty Spark bears the Marathon logo.
