21 Jump Street was a police drama television series on the Fox Television Network that ran from April 12, 1987 to April 27, 1991.
The show starred prominent actors and actresses at the time, including Johnny Depp and Holly Robinson Peete.
The show is about a group of young cops whose youthful appearances enabled them to work undercover to catch troubled youths. As with most teenage shows in the late 80's and early 90's, the show covered typical plots, such as hate crimes, drug abuse, drinking, and sexual promiscuity. Similarly, each problem was solved by the end of the hour long show, giving an implicit moral about the impact of a particular activity.
The show at first was a huge success, but slowly tapered off until its demise. By season 4, most of the original cast left the show and the ratings became abysmal. However, it was able to produce a spin-off called "Booker", which lasted about one season.
Currently, the show is syndicated on the FOX network and the entire first season is available on DVD.
